Purpose of the Team
We are looking to create a dedicated Site Response & Maintenance Team to support our operational sites across the business.
About the Role
This team will act as a practical response group, carrying out repairs, maintenance, small construction works and general site improvement activity across our buildings, yards, depots and operational facilities.
The purpose of the team is simple: to keep our sites safe, compliant, well maintained and able to operate as normal.
This will include responding to actions raised following EA visits, audits, inspections and internal site reviews, as well as supporting general repairs, yard improvements and handyman activity across the business.
The team will play an important role in protecting business continuity, reducing reliance on external contractors and making sure that issues are dealt with quickly, safely and to a good standard.

- Scope of Work
- Repairs to buildings, yards, walls, fences, gates, barriers and general infrastructure
- Small construction and improvement works across operational sites
- Concrete repairs, slab works, blockwork, bricklaying and general groundworks
- Welding, fabrication and repair work where required
- Use of plant and machinery to support yard works, repairs and site improvements
- Transporting small plant where required, including use of a roll‑on roll‑off vehicle or trailer with a digger
- General handyman activity across buildings, welfare areas, workshops and yards
- Reactive works following EA visits, audits, safety inspections or operational issues
- Planned preventative maintenance to keep sites in good condition
- Supporting site teams with practical works that protect safety, compliance and day‑to‑day operations
- Site Response & Maintenance Manager
Responsibilities
- Plan and prioritise the team’s workload
- Review site issues and agree practical solutions
- Manage EA, audit and compliance‑related actions through to completion
- Ensure works are carried out safely, properly and in line with business standards
- Coordinate labour, materials, tools, plant and access requirements
- Work closely with site managers, operations teams, SHEQ and compliance
- Manage contractors where external support is required
- Track completed works and report progress back to the business
- Use the team effectively across all sites
Ideal candidate: strong practical knowledge of site maintenance, construction, plant, repairs and operational environments.
Organised, hands‑on, able to lead a mobile team across multiple locations.
Multi‑Skilled Tradesperson / Builder
Role will support building repairs, yard works and small construction projects.

- Support mechanical repairs where appropriate
- Fabricate small items needed for site safety or operational use
- Work with the wider team on repair and improvement projects
- Solid welding/fabrication experience and practical problem‑solving approach
- Machine Driver / Plant Operator
Role will support the team with plant operation, movement of materials and small site works.
Key requirements
- Experience operating a digger or similar small plant
- Ability to move materials safely around site
- Experience supporting groundworks, yard repairs or small construction jobs
- Ability to drive a small roll‑on roll‑off vehicle or trailer carrying plant, where required
- Strong understanding of working safely around operational yards
- Additional tickets such as telehandler, loading shovel, excavator, dumper or forklift beneficial
- Flexible and willing to support general site works when not operating plant
- General Operatives / Labourers
Duties

- General labouring across sites
- Clean and make good after works are completed
- Assist the fitter/welder, machine driver and tradesperson as required
- Help with general maintenance and handyman tasks

Experience Required Across The Team
Experience working in construction, waste, recycling, utilities, facilities, plant, civils, groundworks or industrial environments is highly beneficial.
