As Vehicle Maintenance Manager, you will ensure the company fully complies with DVSA regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and compliance. You will ensure all vehicles are serviced and maintained to a high standard and total compliance achieved. You’ll be responsible for all maintenance contracts, ensuring they are kept up to date, and you will manage vehicle maintenance facilities, ensuring any issues that arise are resolved accordingly.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Ensure the company fully complies with DVSA regulations and the Operation Licence is compliant as per the undertakings of the licence.
- Manage the DVSA Earned Recognition KPI’s, ensuring issues are dealt with accordingly and data is accurate prior to upload to the DVSA.
- Be the Business’s lead in Fleet Compliance and Fleet Risk, ensuring that all Business’s procedures are adhered to and administered effectively.
- Act as a nominated Transport Manager on the Company’s Good Vehicle Operators Licence.
- Develop relationships and communication between the Fleet department and other departments in the business.
- Ensure all in-scope vehicles are serviced and maintained to a high standard and total compliance achieved, and LOLER tests are up to date.
- Ensure vehicle tachograph recording equipment is inspected and calibrated in accordance with legislative timescales.
- Provide governance reports to the UK Fleet Manager and Group Compliance Manager (Transport) on vehicle maintenance compliance.
- Responsible for maintenance contracts (GV79) and ensuring they are kept up to date.
- Monitor/collate daily driver vehicle walkaround checks and instruct repair of any defects found.
- Manage the vehicle maintenance staff and facilities ensuring any issues that arise are resolved accordingly.
- Keep an accurate log of employee holidays and make sure these are accepted or declined in a timely manner and communicated to the employee.
- Keep an accurate log of employee’s sickness and absences through the TMS system using the correct absence codes and manage absence issues with HR support.
- Carry out any other tasks as instructed by the UK Fleet Manager or Senior Management which are in keeping with the job role.
Skills And Experience
- Transport Managers CPC - essential.
- Knowledge of transport operations and Operator Licensing requirements.
- Experience of management in a similar transport depot environment.
- Organisational Skills - making sure all maintenance records are up to date and compliant, PMI’s/services/MOTs are booked in advance.
- Good understanding of current legislations and keeping up to date with any legislative changes.
- Managing a team to achieve the companies expected standards of compliance and vehicle maintenance.
- Being pro-active and using initiative – devising solutions to problems, looking for ways to make the company more efficient and/or more profitable without being instructed to do so first.
- Approachable attitude – build good relationships with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Category B license - desirable.
