At Panda, we are looking for a Fixed Plant Fitter to help keep our waste management facility running safely, reliably and efficiently.
As a Fixed Plant Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and improving the fixed plant and mechanical equipment that keeps our site moving. This includes machinery such as conveyors, shredders, balers and associated plant systems used within a busy waste management and recycling environment. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys practical, hands‑on engineering work, solving mechanical problems and supporting safe, reliable day‑to‑day operations.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on fixed plant machinery, mechanical systems and site equipment.
- Inspecting, servicing and repairing machinery such as conveyors, shredders, balers and associated plant systems.
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs, replacements or adjustments to minimise downtime.
- Responding to breakdowns and supporting emergency repairs when required.
- Supporting the development and delivery of planned preventative maintenance schedules.
- Taking part in the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment and systems.
- Working closely with maintenance, engineering and operations colleagues to improve equipment performance and reliability.
- Identifying opportunities to improve plant performance, reduce downtime and increase efficiency.
- Ensuring all maintenance work is completed safely and in line with site procedures, health, safety and environmental standards.
- Maintaining accurate records of inspections, repairs, parts used, maintenance activity and equipment condition.
- Supporting a clean, safe and compliant working environment.
About You
We are looking for a practical, hands‑on Fixed Plant Fitter with strong fault‑finding skills and a proactive approach to maintenance and repair.
What You Will Ideally Have
- Experience working in plant maintenance, mechanical maintenance, engineering or a similar hands‑on role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, machinery and industrial equipment.
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
- Good fault‑finding, diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
- Knowledge of fixed plant machinery, conveyor systems, shredders, balers or similar equipment would be beneficial.
- The ability to work safely in a busy operational environment.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A proactive, reliable and flexible approach to work.
- A strong commitment to health, safety and environmental standards.
- Relevant qualifications in plant maintenance, mechanical engineering or a related discipline would be advantageous.
