About the Role
As a Projects Surveyor, you will be at the heart of delivering major works and insurance-related projects ensuring they are completed safely, on time, and within budget. You will act as a technical expert, working closely with customers, contractors, and internal teams to maintain and improve housing stock to the highest standards. This is a varied and hands-on role where no two days are the same from managing insurance claims and major works projects to conducting surveys and resolving complex property issues.
What You Will Be Doing
- Leading on insurance-related works, ensuring properties are safe, secure, and restored efficiently
- Managing major works projects from inspection through to completion
- Preparing specifications, schedules of work, and overseeing contractors on-site
- Acting as the main point of contact for customers and stakeholders
- Carrying out pre- and post-inspections to ensure quality and compliance
- Handling customer alterations, complaints, and technical queries
- Conducting dilapidation and stock condition surveys
- Managing contractors and ensuring works meet health & safety standards
- Monitoring budgets, approving invoices, and tracking project spend
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- HNC in Construction (or equivalent) OR a recognised trade qualification (e.g. City & Guilds in carpentry/plumbing)
- Strong experience in surveying, property maintenance, or construction
- Ability to manage projects, contractors, and budgets effectively
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience handling complex issues and making sound decisions
Desirable:
- Professional membership (e.g. RICS, CIOB)
- NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification
- Experience with analytical tools (e.g. Excel, Power BI)
- Knowledge of housing sector systems (e.g. MRI / Service Connect)
We need somebody with the relevant experience who can work unsupervised, is organised and likes to achieve goals and targets. You will have your own projects and major works to manage so understanding of project management and contract management will be key. You must have experience managing complex related construction projects, ideally with contract management and CDM experience.
