As a Planned Investment Surveyor, you’ll help make sure homes are maintained, improved and ready to meet residents’ needs for years to come. Combining practical building knowledge with thoughtful planning, you’ll play an important part in delivering investment works that are well specified, well managed and considerate of the people who live in our homes. This is a varied role for a surveyor who enjoys looking beyond the immediate repair: assessing the condition of buildings, identifying what work is needed and helping turn those findings into effective programmes. You’ll work with colleagues and contractors to plan and oversee projects, keeping quality, value for money, safety and resident experience firmly in view. What you’ll be doing * Attending monthly contractor meetings. * Prepare clear scopes of work, specifications, schedules and cost estimates for planned improvement and replacement projects. * Support the development and delivery of programmes covering elements such as kitchens, bathrooms, roofs, windows, doors and other building components, as appropriate to property needs. * Monitor works on site, checking progress, workmanship and compliance with agreed specifications, relevant standards and health and safety requirements. * Work with contractors and internal teams to resolve issues, manage variations and help projects stay on track for time, cost and quality. * Keep accurate records of inspections, decisions, costs and completed works, using information to support asset planning and future investment priorities. * Communicate clearly and considerately with residents, explaining proposed works, listening to concerns and helping minimise disruption wherever possible. What you’ll bring You’ll have experience in building surveying, property maintenance, planned works or a closely related area as well as an understanding of building construction and how to assess the condition of homes. You’ll be confident preparing specifications and monitoring contractors’ work, and able to balance practical judgement with accurate documentation and attention to detail. We are looking for a surveyor with knowledge of CDM, building pathology, H&S & post works inspections. Why this role matters Planned investment is about more than replacing building components. It’s about protecting the quality and safety of homes, using resources responsibly and helping residents feel informed and respected while work takes place. Your professional judgement will help ensure that investment is directed where it can make a lasting difference. If you’re a practical, thoughtful surveyor who takes pride in getting the details right and understands the importance of people’s homes, we’d love to hear from you. Bring your expertise to a role where the work you plan and oversee can support safer, better homes and more independent lives
