Our central Shared Services teams play a vital role in supporting the success of every school within the Greenshaw Learning Trust. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance Manager to join our Trust-wide support team and contribute to our mission of delivering excellent, inclusive education. This role offers the opportunity to work from our regional hub in Sutton, as part of a collaborative and forward-thinking environment with hybrid working from home if required.
About the role:
The role involves the day to day oversight of core teams within the finance department. It will suit a people-centred finance professional. The successful candidate will be customer service orientated, enjoy developing teams, and have the necessary financial acumen and track record.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage Finance teams including: 1) the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams processing of supplier invoices and managing suppliers and customers, 2) Finance Officer teams that produce high quality financial accounts for schools on a monthly basis.
- Identify and promptly address finance risks evident in the accounts: e.g. necessary actions are being taken to recover balances due; overdue amounts are paid; unresolved balances are cleared, and restricted funds are managed - ensuring (Revenue and Capital) funds are spent in accordance with terms and conditions.
- Perform various central accounting duties including year-end closing adjustments, GAG reconciliations, VAT reconciliations, intercompany reconciliations, trading company accounts, Trust Shared Service accounts and Control account reconciliations.
- Oversee banking to ensure sufficient funds are available and payments are made on a timely basis and in line with policy.
- Produce monthly financial reports that will be shared with various departments within Trust Shared Services.
- Embed and update internal controls that safeguard the Trust finances, access to systems (Sage, SAP, Lloyds, Planergy) and sensitive information.
- Compile and submit statutory returns including quarterly VAT return, FRS 102 Pensions schedules, DFE returns.
