We are looking for a Senior Designated Safeguarding Lead. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT / Brakenhale School and become an integral member of the safeguarding team. We are an 11 to 18 school situated on the southern side of Bracknell town centre. Our commitment to high standards and outstanding teaching has led us to become the school of choice for families in Bracknell Forest.

Main responsibilities:
- To engage actively in the Performance Management process
- To participate in whole school professional learning programmes
- To take part in the staff development programme by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development
- Be keenly aware of the responsibility for safeguarding children and to help in the application of the Safeguarding Policy within the school
- Comply with the school\’s Safeguarding Policy in order to ensure the welfare of children and young persons
- To provide leadership, support, and strategic direction to the DSL and DDSL within the school
- Ensure the school systems for monitoring, tracking and following up on safeguarding concerns are rigorously implemented and of a high quality
- Develop the school\’s relationship with the local authority, ensuring we utilise all existing support in improving attendance and ensuring the safety of the students
- Hold the local authority to account for their responses to referrals
You will need:
- Safeguarding Awareness Training (previously known as Level 2)
- Designated Safeguarding Lead Course
- Studied to a minimum standard of GCSE (grad A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent in English and Maths
- A Levels or equivalent qualifications
- Level 3 Child Protection certified
- Experience of working with vulnerable children and/or adults
- Experience of working in a school environment
- Experience in training others
- Knowledge of how to work with families experiencing difficulties
- Experience of working with families whom require additional support
- An understanding, or willingness to learn, about local authority practices regarding safeguarding
