Site Based. Mainly Greater London
Permanent
You will be part of a successful team in this industry leading specialist Landscaper with responsibility for the installation of the company’s Living Walls and Urban Green Installations at some of the most prestigious sites in London, across the UK and into Europe. This role will benefit from ongoing training and is a fantastic opportunity to develop a career in this massively expanding sector. It is expected that you move into a Project Managers role within about 2 years.
The Job:
Living Walls are comprised of a grid or frame of timber or profiled aluminium “studs”. This frame is secured to the outside of a building and a sheet of fabric with planting pockets is attached. A micro / drip irrigation line is installed across the top of each horizontal stud to feed and water the plants at each level. These irrigation lines are routed back to a control box containing the supply tanks, pumps, solenoid values and the main controller. The whole is effectively a stud wall covered with fabric plant pots. As an Installer you will take the design drawings construct the frame on site, affix it to the building façade, instal the irrigation system and plant it up in accordance with the design diagram.
The Person:
Surprisingly, Installers need little horticultural or plant knowledge as the planting is precisely detailed on a design diagram. Very much more useful is the ability to read construction drawings, coupled with practical carpentry, joinery and fabrication skills in a construction environment. A knowledge of basic plumbing or irrigation is also useful. The work is often carried out at height and experience in using access equipment and holding IPAF, MEWP and PASMA tickets is very useful. As you will be working on active construction sites you will need a Blue or Black CSCS card and ideally have a SSSTS or SMSTS certification.
Benefits:
Salary to £45,000 plus Company Vehicle, Generous Overtime, Working Away Allowance and Benefits
