Estimator, Landscape or Construction Salary £38,000 to £45,000 Preston, Lancashire Permanent The continuing success of this national landscaping contractor means that they need an additional Estimator in their Commercial Landscaping Team. This role is central to the organisation and contributes to both its ongoing success and the creation of the company’s award-winning Landscapes. They would ideally like to recruit an Estimator with Landscaping and Estimating Software experience, but they recognise the difficulty of finding this precise skill set. They are therefore open to developing and training an Estimator from another area of Construction and experience in Groundworks would be of particular relevance. In fact, this is the ideal position for a Construction Estimator looking for a role with great career prospects and excellent training! The Job: Reporting to the Senior Estimator, you will use your professional and proactive approach to create and submit Commercial Landscaping Tenders. You will have ownership of your projects and manage the award of schemes to the point that they are handed over to one the operational teams. * Using estimating software such as Bluebeam Revu you will accurately measure PDF drawings to produce a Bill of Quantities, determine the scope of work and specifications for pricing purposes. * Distribute “sub-contract bid packages” as required and obtain prices for all of elements of the tender. * Assist Clients with technical feedback at all stages of the tender and award process. * Assign or propose Profit Margins based on department guidelines. * Price bills of quantities ready for submittal and enter all supplementary bid information. * Identify areas of risk or concern within the scheme and present them to the Senior Estimator. * Attend Pre and Post Contract meetings with clients as required. * Maintain the tender register. * Contact clients for updates on bid submissions. * Build and maintain strong, professional working relationships with clients, suppliers and sub-contractors. The Person: You will currently be working in an Estimating role, preferably in Landscaping but possibly in a Construction or Groundworks company and you will: * Ideally have CAD and/or estimating software experience but training can be given. * Have experience in preparing and submitting tenders for Commercial Landscaping, Groundwork or General Construction works. * Have an understanding of Contracts and Project risk management. * Have good general IT skills including MS Office. * Be organised with good time management and used to meeting tender deadlines. * Good communication skills. * Full driving licence
