Role Overview:
The Senior Design Director (Electrical) will play a crucial role in executing the data center design strategy under the guidance of the Vice President Design. This position focuses on the day-to-day management of design projects, ensuring the delivery of innovative, sustainable, and high-quality design solutions. The Senior Design Director will manage external design consultants, contribute to the development of design standards, and drive innovation and sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Execution and Management
- Manage the day-to-day execution of data center design projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and industry standards.
- Coordinate with external design consultants to deliver high-quality design outputs on time and within budget.
- Implement design standards and best practices to ensure consistency and excellence across all projects.
- Contribute to the development of innovative design solutions that enhance performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
- Team Collaboration and Development
- Work closely with the SVP Design and other team members to ensure seamless integration of design elements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Provide guidance and support to junior design team members, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement.

- Client and Stakeholder Engagement
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, understanding their unique requirements and translating them into effective design solutions.

- Drive the adoption of cutting-edge design technologies and methodologies, such as Building Information Modelling (BIM) and computational design.

- Budget and Resource Management
- Assist in managing the design budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of design services.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil), or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in data center or mission-critical facility design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex data center design projects.
- Extensive knowledge of data center technologies, industry standards, and best practices in design.
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles and energy-efficient design strategies for data centres.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in design software and tools relevant to data center projects.
