We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time teacher to join our passionate and committed Year 2 teaching team at Horley Infant School for a maternity cover starting January 2027. The ideal candidate would be someone who loves the fun that working in an infant school brings and someone who will embrace this opportunity to provide consistency and energy to our team.

This is a part-time position working 2 days a week (Thursday & Friday) in a Year 2 class with alternate Wednesday afternoons in school as part of the Year Group’s PPA afternoon. You will work alongside another teacher to deliver high quality education, sharing responsibilities for lesson planning, classroom management, and pupil support. The ideal candidate would also be in a position to take on temporary subject co-ordination of either R.E or Music.

We think that Horley Infants is the “place to be” but don’t just take our advert’s word for it - in our latest Staff Wellbeing Survey, our whole school staff reported a 17% greater level of job satisfaction than the national benchmark.

Here are some of the things that teachers say about working at Horley Infants:

  • “At Horley Infant School the staff team are caring and supportive of each other and go above and beyond for the children in their care. Teachers are trusted by SLT to do their jobs and the school is full of warmth, kindness and laughter.”
  • “Being a teacher is a demanding job, but working at Horley Infant School really is something special. I consider myself very lucky to be part of a school with such a child‐centred approach. The children here get a wonderful start to their education during those crucial first few years, and it’s incredibly rewarding to play even a small part in that journey. And honestly, I couldn’t ask to work with a better team. The support, the humour, and the shared passion for giving every child the best experience make coming to work each day something I genuinely look forward to.”
  • “A friendly and welcoming place to work. There is sensitivity to the diversity of children's and adults' needs and strategies in place and training given in order to support these. This is the best school I've worked in - I wish I had found it sooner!”
  • “Working in a school that truly values wellbeing means you’re not just supported as a professional, but cared for as a person. The leadership team genuinely prioritise staff welfare creating a culture where everyone feels seen, respected, and empowered to do their best work.”
