Job Overview
Renal F is a renal ward that also has new Renal transplant patients. It is an exciting opportunity to really make a difference on a ward and contribute to providing a friendly, clean, safe and comfortable environment for the patients and ward staff. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and an ability to work within a team but also use own initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure bed areas are clean and prepared for new patients
- Care and cleaning of equipment
- Cleaning and making beds
- Care of patients lockers and bed areas
- Assist patients with meal choices as directed by the Nurse in Charge
- Assist with the setting of tables, serving of meals, cleaning crockery, replenishing water jugs

Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential criteria- GCSE Grade D/3 Maths & English or equivalent experience
- Valid Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or attainment of Basic REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate (can be completed once in post one day course)
- Clerical / IT qualification or relevant experience
- Working towards Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF) level 2 or 3 (NVQ2/3)
- Manual Handling, Fire and Health and Safety Awareness (can be completed once in post)
- Demonstrable ability to use a computer
- Familiar with Microsoft packages and information systems
- Experience of working in a customer service environment
- Experience in a caring or hotel/catering environment
- Experience of working at a supervisory level
- Ability to communicate well within a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to deal with any potentially difficult or sensitive issues
- Understanding of confidentiality in the workplace
- Excellent organisational skills
