About the role
We’re seeking a skilled Medical Copywriter with a strong background in healthcare communications and a passion for transforming scientific content into engaging, promotional materials. This role supports the design team and collaborates closely with our client in the pharmaceutical industry.
You’ll play a key role in developing high-quality copy that aligns with brand objectives while adhering to medical, regulatory, legal, and compliance standards. The ideal candidate is adept at simplifying complex scientific concepts into clear, compelling content across both digital and traditional channels. Your work will help ensure consistency in key messaging while anchoring materials in accurate medical references. Creativity, strategic thinking, and a solution-oriented mindset are essential.
What you’ll do
- Develop and maintain copy for a wide range of commercial and omnichannel assets, including digital and print materials.
- Lead the referencing process, ensuring all content is medically accurate and based on the latest literature and data.
- Translate complex medical and scientific data into clear, concise, and audience-appropriate language for healthcare professionals, patients, and payers.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to align messaging and creative output.
- Participate in creative concept development, ideation, and occasional multimedia or motion-based campaign projects.
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously across various therapeutic areas, delivering high-quality content within tight deadlines.
- Ensure all content aligns with relevant regulatory frameworks for the market.
- Follow internal best practices in communication, documentation, editorial standards, language use, content structure, and referencing methodology.
- Actively participate in client meetings, internal briefings, training sessions, and workshops as needed per project scope.
- Where applicable, use approved generative AI tools to assist with first-draft copywriting, content repurposing, and ideation—always under editorial control.
- Uphold strict standards for quality, confidentiality, and data security.
About you
- Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience, ideally within an in-house creative team or agency setting, working with pharmaceutical sector clients.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Awareness of relevant regulations.
- Education: A degree or master’s in a healthcare-related field (or equivalent qualification) is preferred.
- Therapeutic Expertise: Familiarity with therapy areas such as rare diseases, respiratory and immunology, cardiovascular, renal and metabolic, and oncology.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Translation Ability: Capable of translating content from English to either French or Italian when required.
- Willingness to Learn: Open to deepening knowledge in the above therapeutic areas through collaboration with medical teams.
- Writing Skills: A strong passion and talent for writing, with conceptual thinking skills and a solid grasp of the digital communication landscape.
- SEO Expertise: Experience in SEO copywriting is a strong advantage.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Passion for building relationships, networking, and engaging effectively with stakeholders.
- Scientific Awareness: Keeps up to date with technical and scientific advancements and can apply this knowledge to ongoing projects.
- Problem Solving: Skilled in identifying issues and implementing effective solutions.
- Detail-Oriented: Highly organized, deadline-driven, and able to multitask across various projects.
- Client Focus: Strong client-service mindset with a commitment to building long-term partnerships.
- Project Management: Proven ability to deliver work on time and manage competing priorities efficiently.
- Corporate Experience: Previous experience in a large, multinational, matrixed organization is a plus.
- Location: Ideally based within commuting distance of the client’s office in Hamburg. This is a hybrid role combining remote work with occasional on-site meetings.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English plus also either French or Italian.
