Salary: £42,322 to £44,479 OTE plus overtime and a half

The Greenleaf Team is looking for people to join our team who share our beliefs. We specialise in solo placements for young people in care up to the age of 21 and adopt a therapeutic, trauma-informed approach to care. Job Purpose: The Deputy Residential Manager will support the Residential Manager in the efficient running of the residential home. You will largely be responsible for assisting the Residential Manager in the efficient operational management of the house as well as providing excellent care to our children and young people. The Deputy Manager will have responsibility for managing a team of staff; you must be experienced in motivating and providing support to colleagues. As part of ongoing professional development, you will highlight training needs, organise and oversee the completion of training plans, supervision, rota management, and ensure an excellent understanding of health and social care standards. You will also set, monitor and meet key performance indicators essential to this role. You must have significant experience and be confident in providing exceptional care and support to enhance the residential experiences of vulnerable young people. You should hold a relevant qualification such as SVQ Level 4, Registered Managers award, or equivalent. The Deputy Manager will support Greenleaf’s values and work towards its vision and mission, ensuring excellent standards of behaviour, accountability, and team collaboration. You will be directly accountable to the Manager, deputising in their absence and managing the service, staff, practice, budget, resources, and the welfare of our children and young people. All Deputy Managers are expected to work flexibly; tasks not covered in the job description may arise.

Main duties include developing and monitoring systems to ensure staff carry out duties per job descriptions, occupational standards, and policies. The role involves completing 14-hour shifts followed by a 10-hour sleepover, with a 2 on 3 off rota. Flexibility around working hours is required. Deputising in the Manager’s absence and completing induction and ongoing training are also part of the role.

Requirements:

  • Management/leadership experience
  • SVQ 4 in social care or equivalent
  • Significant experience working in residential childcare
  • Understanding of legislation underpinning residential childcare
  • Understanding of child protection and safeguarding
