Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) check. Appointments are normally made within 4 to 8 weeks of the closing date.

About us: You'll be part of a diverse and experienced Water Resources Regulatory Approaches team, that sits within NRW's Evidence, Policy and Permitting Directorate. Our Team's remit includes the development and delivery of internal operational guidance and training resources. The Team also manages the Water Resources Return Service, which records abstraction data to support compliance.

What you will do:

  • Support the assessment of water resources compliance with relevant legislation, including the collation of information into technical documents that will inform regulatory or place priorities.
  • Provide technical input to team consultations as required and support NRW representation on external forums.
  • Provide support to investigative programmes.
  • Deliver enhancement projects directly by identifying opportunities, specify works and procure work.
  • Coordinate with contractors to ensure effective delivery of agreed services.
  • Support a resilient NRW Incident Management Service that follows NRW process.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.
  • Be committed to Natural Resources Wales Equal Opportunities and Diversity Policy, together with an understanding of how it operates within the responsibilities of the post.
  • Be committed to your own development through the effective use of your personal development plan (known as Sgwrs).
  • Any other reasonable duties requested commensurate with the grade of this role.

In your application and interview you will be asked to demonstrate the following skills and experience using the STAR method:

  • A working knowledge of water resources, environment management, agriculture, fisheries, conservation or biodiversity.
  • An understanding of the sustainable management of natural resources.
  • Strong and effective self-management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers and partners; explaining issues and gaining support by influencing.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
