About the Role:
Are you passionate about understanding and protecting Ireland’s groundwater resources? Our client is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Hydrogeologist to join their growing environmental team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 3–5 years of professional experience who wants to take the next step in their hydrogeology career, contributing to impactful projects across Ireland — from renewable energy and infrastructure to land development and environmental protection.
In this role, you’ll work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality environmental assessments, supporting sustainable water management, and ensuring compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation.
What You’ll Do:
- Carry out groundwater monitoring, sampling, and field investigations across Ireland.
- Prepare Hydrogeological Impact Assessments (HIAs) and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and planning submissions.
- Analyse and interpret groundwater and water quality data, producing clear, insightful technical reports and models.
- Support aquifer vulnerability and groundwater protection assessments, using tools such as MODFLOW, GIS, and AquiferWin32.
- Engage with regulatory authorities, including the EPA, GSI, and local councils.
- Ensure projects comply with Water Framework Directive standards and Irish Groundwater Regulations.
- Collaborate with planners and engineers to develop sustainable drainage and water management solutions.
- Contribute to a range of projects — from renewable energy and infrastructure to extractives and urban development.
What You’ll Bring:
- A BSc in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related field (an MSc or postgraduate qualification is a strong advantage).
- 3–5 years’ professional experience in hydrogeological assessment, ideally within the Irish environmental and planning framework.
- Proven ability to prepare hydrogeological reports and assessments for planning and permitting.
- Strong understanding of Irish environmental regulations, EPA guidance, and groundwater standards.
- Competence with hydrogeological modelling and data analysis software (e.g., MODFLOW, GIS).
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and data interpretation skills.
- A full, clean Irish or EU driving licence.
- Membership (or eligibility for membership) of professional bodies such as IGI, IAH, or IEMA is desirable.
