A fantastic new opportunity has presented itself to any experienced ecologists looking for that next step in their conservation careers! Our client, a recognised multidisciplinary firm, is looking to expand their Midlands ecology team by bringing in a new Senior Ecologist for their Birmingham office. Alongside working in a top-quality team of like-minded individuals, you’ll also be working a 4-day week on 5-day pay! This client prioritises their employee’s mental health and wellbeing by making every weekend a 3-day weekend, allowing you to spend time with friends & family, pursue personal hobbies or professional development or just take a moment to decompress. You’ll be working alongside landscape architects and arboricultural specialists in a multidiscipline team with the aim of maintaining, protecting and improving biodiversity.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with project management, handling budgets and timelines.
- Leading on a range of protected species surveys and assessments e.g. PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs and BNG.
- Assist with protected species licenses and mitigation strategy.
- Support and mentor junior members of staff.
- Liaising with key clients & stakeholders, helping to develop and maintain new and existing relationships.
Requirements:
- To be considered for this senior ecologist position, you should aim to meet as much of the following as possible:
- Be a member of CIEEM, preferably working towards Chartered status.
- Strong understanding of UK planning policy and framework surrounding Ecology.
- Survey skills including UKHabs and protected species.
- Hold at least one protected species license.
- Comfortable with leading and mentoring junior members of the team.
- Experienced liaising with clients & stakeholders.
- Hold a full UK driver’s license.
- Possess strong report writing and project management skills.
