As an Electrical Engineer at FCC Environment, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of the Allington Energy from Waste plant. You’ll be responsible for project management of electrical upgrades, maintaining high voltage systems, and supporting plant availability through strong maintenance and safety practices. This vacancy is for a full-time position, working as part of a skilled maintenance and engineering team at one of our flagship EFW sites.

What will you be doing?

  • Managing electrical and engineering projects from concept through to installation, commissioning and handover
  • Taking responsibility for the site electrical distribution network, including HV supplies and switchgear
  • Ensuring statutory electrical testing and inspections are completed in line with the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and best practice
  • Supporting the development and use of the site CMMS in line with maintenance strategies
  • Assisting with plant upgrades, planned outages and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Managing and supervising contractors and supporting maintenance teams when required
  • Deputising for the Maintenance Manager and Team Leaders when needed
  • Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with FCC’s SHEQ standards
  • Providing technical support to other EFW sites within the group when required

What are we looking for?

  • Proven electrical engineering experience, ideally within Energy from Waste, Power, Cement or Paper environments
  • Strong knowledge of high voltage systems, transformers and switchgear
  • Experience of project management, ideally using Microsoft Project
  • CMMS experience (Q4 desirable)
  • Knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
  • Experience of root cause analysis and fault-finding methodologies
  • Understanding of CDM regulations
  • Experience with PLCs, DCS and instrumentation systems (Siemens desirable)
  • A relevant engineering qualification (degree ideal, but strong experience will be considered)
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification desirable
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities
