About the Job: You’ll sit at the intersection of engineering and supply chain, owning supplier selection and procurement strategy for highly technical components. This isn’t a transactional buying role — you’ll be making critical decisions that directly impact performance, cost, and manufacturability.
What You'll Do:
- Source and manage suppliers across machining, injection moulding, 3D printing, and composites
- Interpret engineering drawings and collaborate closely with design teams
- Drive DFM (Design for Manufacture) conversations with suppliers
- Evaluate supplier capability, quality, and scalability
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and long-term agreements
- Build a resilient, high-performance supply chain from low-volume to scale production
- Troubleshoot production challenges and proactively mitigate risk
Desirable Qualifications, Experience & Attributes:
- Experience as a Technical Buyer / Manufacturing Buyer / Supply Chain Engineer (or similar)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: CNC machining, Injection moulding, Additive manufacturing (3D printing), Composite materials (desirable)
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and tolerances
- Comfortable working closely with engineers and challenging assumptions
- Commercially sharp with strong negotiation skills
