Greenjets is seeking a Battery Systems Engineer to support the design, development and integration of battery systems for our platforms. This is a contract role, based in the UK, suited to an experienced, hands-on engineer with strong practical experience in lithium-based energy storage systems for aerospace, UAS, automotive or similarly demanding applications.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop battery systems for propulsion applications, including cell selection, pack architecture, electrical and mechanical integration, thermal considerations and safety features.
- Define and support battery system requirements, interfaces and performance targets in collaboration with system and propulsion engineers, contributing to energy, power, mass and thermal trade-offs at system level.
- Support the integration of battery systems with power electronics, motor controllers and vehicle electrical architectures, ensuring compatibility and robustness.
- Support battery testing activities, including definition of test plans, analysis of test data and iteration of designs based on results, in laboratory and system-level testing where required.
- Support the development or integration of battery management systems (BMS), including definition of requirements, interface control and validation of functionality, with system-level understanding of embedded software requirements.
Qualifications
- Strong experience designing and delivering lithium-based battery systems in aerospace, unmanned systems, automotive, motorsport or other high-performance environments.
- Hands-on experience with battery pack architecture, high-power electrical systems, thermal management and safety considerations. Experience with BMS integration, battery testing and failure analysis is expected.
