We are looking for a CBAM Specialist responsible for ensuring the company’s compliance with the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) regulations. The role focuses on monitoring carbon emissions embedded in imported goods, preparing regulatory reporting, and supporting the organization in adapting to evolving EU climate policies. The CBAM Specialist will work closely with supply chain, sustainability, finance, and compliance teams to ensure accurate carbon data collection, reporting, and risk mitigation related to cross-border carbon regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and interpret EU CBAM regulations and ensure company compliance with reporting requirements.
- Collect, verify, and manage carbon emissions data (Scope 1 and Scope 2) related to imported goods covered by CBAM.
- Prepare and submit CBAM quarterly reports through the EU CBAM Transitional Registry.
- Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain verified emissions data for CBAM-covered products.
- Develop internal processes for carbon data collection, verification, and documentation.
- Work with sustainability and ESG teams to align CBAM reporting with corporate carbon accounting frameworks.
- Assess financial implications of CBAM certificates and support carbon cost forecasting.
- Advise management on CBAM risks, opportunities, and compliance strategies.
- Support preparation for the full CBAM implementation phase (2026 onward) including carbon certificate purchasing strategies.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on CBAM requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5+ years of experience in carbon accounting, ESG reporting, climate policy, or regulatory compliance.
- Strong understanding of EU CBAM regulation and EU ETS frameworks.
- Experience with GHG accounting methodologies and emissions calculations.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, ESRS).
- Strong analytical and data management skills.
- Experience working with supply chain emissions data is a plus.
- Excellent English communication skills.
