Groupon is a marketplace where customers discover new experiences and services every day and local businesses thrive. To date, we have worked with over a million merchant partners worldwide, connecting over 16 million customers with deals across various categories. In a world often dominated by e-commerce giants, we stand out as one of the few platforms committed to helping local businesses succeed on a performance basis.

Groupon is on a journey to transform our business with a relentless pursuit of results. Despite thousands of employees across multiple continents, we maintain a culture that inspires innovation, rewards risk-taking, and celebrates success. The impact can be immediate due to our scale and the speed of transformation. We are a "best of both worlds" company—large enough to have resources and scale, yet small enough that individuals can make a meaningful impact.

The Role

We’re seeking an experienced HR Expert specialising in Employee Relations to join our UK team. This key role focuses on delivering fair, compliant, and commercially sound people solutions. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees across the UK and support the wider EMEA HR team on cross-border ER topics. Your expertise will shape a performance-driven and values-led culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex employee relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, performance management, absence, etc.), ensuring compliance with UK employment law and Groupon’s policies.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching to managers to handle people matters confidently and consistently.
  • Upskill and empower managers to manage day-to-day people practices effectively.
  • Support restructuring and organizational change initiatives, including redundancy processes and TUPE (if applicable).
  • Monitor ER trends and risks, advising the business and HR leadership proactively.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and other departments to ensure policy consistency and risk mitigation.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of ER policies, procedures, and training.
  • Support investigations and documentation related to employee complaints and whistleblowing.
  • Lead or support cross-functional HR projects and broader HR operations as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven track record (5+ years) in UK-based employee relations, ideally in a fast-paced, global, or matrix environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Pragmatic and commercially aware approach to ER issues.
  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, handle sensitive issues discreetly, and balance risk with business needs.
  • Experience managing change and supporting leaders through complex people matters.
  • Proactive, calm, and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Ideally CIPD qualified or equivalent.

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to influence HR’s future in a transforming, tech-driven global business.
  • Collaborative, people-first culture where your voice matters.
  • Flexible working (hybrid).
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • Access to learning resources, wellbeing support, and the chance to make an impact.

Our Mindset

  • We compare ourselves to a sports team, striving to assemble the best team with available resources.
  • We uphold values of fairness, mutual support, and respect, while focusing on performance to deliver results quickly.
  • Our culture is built on courage, ambition, and meritocracy, enabling rapid growth for capable individuals.
  • We deconstruct systems into small building blocks.
  • We clearly articulate issues and communicate next steps.
  • We deliver results under pressure, focusing on weeks rather than years during transformation.
