With a reputation for delivering first-class service, we specialise in the sale, service, and maintenance of DAF trucks. As our team continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Controller to take the lead in managing our busy, high-performing workshop.
As Workshop Controller, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, efficient, and productive operation of our workshop. This role combines technical knowledge, strong people management, and a focus on customer service to ensure repairs and maintenance are carried out to the highest standards.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, 42.5 hours per week on alternating shifts. One in three Saturday mornings.
Salary
Dependent on experience (will be discussed at interview stage).
Key Responsibilities
- Allocate work to technicians in line with skill set and job priority.
- Monitor job progress and ensure timely completion.
- Ensure high levels of productivity and efficiency across the workshop.
- Liaise with service advisors and parts department to ensure seamless workflow.
- Maintain accurate job cards and records through our internal systems.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide support/training to workshop staff.
- Ensure all health & safety standards and manufacturer guidelines are followed.
Ideally, we are looking for
- Previous experience as a Workshop Controller, Senior Technician, or similar supervisory role in a commercial vehicle or HGV environment.
- A working technical understanding of vehicles in order to clearly explain repairs or additional repairs to customers.
- Customer service skills, including dealing with difficult situations and an ability to up-sell our services and products where appropriate.
- Awareness of warranty guidelines, service intervals, etc.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Be flexible, energised and a team player.
