The predicted salary is between 11 - 16 £ per hour.

We are looking to appoint a Patient Care Co-ordinator for a minimum of 20 hours per week to join our busy GP practice. This role is established as the first point of contact for patients, contractors and visitors as well as carrying out general tasks associated with a GP surgery.

You will be responsible for the general administrative and reception duties within the Practice and work with our established processes, policies and procedures to provide a comprehensive high quality service and deal efficiently and courteously with patient enquiries. You will have excellent communication skills and IT literacy, a compassionate and friendly nature who can operate in a busy environment with a range of people and professions, as you will be working with our clinical and administration teams alongside the general public.

Your regular duties in this role will include:

  • Dealing with telephone, face-to-face and electronic enquiries
  • Booking and/or amending patient appointments and home visits
  • Contacting patients to provide information from the clinical team
  • Assisting patients to access our services and those available in the wider community
  • Processing prescription requests

This role is ideal for someone who is highly organised and an effective communicator who can provide a professional and warm welcome to our patients, ensuring every contact is of the highest quality.

Main duties of the job include:

  • Receiving patients and consulting with members of the practice team
  • Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
  • Registering new patients and temporary residents
  • Taking messages and passing on information
  • Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients and other team members
  • Processing and distributing incoming and outgoing mail
  • Filing and retrieving paperwork
  • Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required
  • Keeping the reception area tidy and presentable
  • Covering sickness/annual leave and working reasonable overtime when required
  • Undertaking statutory and mandatory training as required

About us: Greengate Medical Centre has a low turnover of staff as we offer a flexible and warm working environment. We offer paid tea breaks where possible and annual staff outings to ensure the team wellbeing. Our list size is 11,500 patients with 3 practice nurses, an Enhanced Diabetes Nurse, 1 HCA, 1 phlebotomist, 2 salaried GPs, overseen by 5 very supportive GP Partners. We are a training practice and fully support staff in our organisations' development.
