What you’ll be doing and what we’re looking for: a senior operations professional who can shape the charity’s day-to-day operations, lead a small team, and work with the CEO and senior leadership to drive operational excellence, growth, and long-term sustainability. Responsibilities

  • Lead Operations: Manage and coordinate the daily functions of the operations team, ensuring alignment with the charity\’s mission and goals.
  • Strategic Input: Contribute to short- and long-term planning and strategy as part of the senior leadership team.
  • Optimize Processes: Develop and refine operational policies, procedures, and business processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness across all functions.
  • Program Delivery: Oversee the effective implementation of programs, ensuring high standards, smooth delivery, and measurable outcomes for beneficiaries.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Monitor and manage the operational budget, ensuring resources are used effectively and financial goals are met.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Identify operational risks and ensure the charity complies with legal, regulatory, and internal requirements.
  • Staff Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and support a small but dynamic team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and performance development.
  • Recruitment: Lead recruitment from job descriptions and advertisements to interviews and onboarding.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and represent Zubeda Welcome at meetings and events.
  • Fundraising & Marketing Support: Collaborate on fundraising initiatives, attend events, engage with partners, and assist with social media and marketing strategies.
  • Volunteer Coordination: Work with volunteers and social media teams to engage volunteers and develop supporting content.
  • Outreach Support: Coordinate logistics and resources to support outreach staff/volunteers.

What you’ll bring (Qualifications)

  • Experience in operations or management roles, ideally within a charity or similar environment.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience presenting to diverse audiences.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with experience in team management and performance development.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on driving operational improvements and efficiency.
  • Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Knowledge of the charity sector and understanding of UK charity regulations.
  • Experience in fundraising, grant writing, or partnership-building within a non-profit context.
  • Experience working in an agile, operational start-up mode.

  • DBS Check: This role is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
  • Hours: Flexible working hours, including occasional weekend and evening work to support charity events and activities.
