The SQIE role at Green Tweed expands the traditional SQE responsibilities that allow the individual to function as a technical resource for the Procurement Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for not only managing supplier quality initiatives (SQE) but also for driving Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VAVE) efforts to identify, assess and capture new product design changes, and manufacturing process efficiencies. They will support and deploy VAVE efforts to identify and achieve cost reductions and performance improvement for the business, while managing all supplier Quality Management Systems (QMS) elements. This includes developing and improving supplier-related non-conformances, processes, documentation, metrics, qualifications, product validation, and drive continuous improvement activities. The position requires demonstrated leadership skills, the ability to work well cross functionally with internal partners globally while building meaningful relationships with our global external partners. The SQIE is also expected to provide mentorship to other team members and manage projects independently, taking ownership in the project management process.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities :
- Manage the supplier corrective action program.
- Collaborate on developing and improving processes, documentation, and systems needed to manage the supplier quality program.
- Interface with suppliers, engineering during new product development to address component manufacturability and quality concerns.
- Support the investigation and resolution of quality issues, addressing factors such as material suitability, specification harmonization, verification methodology, product capability, etc.
- Provides technical support to Procurement, R&D and various stakeholders regarding supplier capability.
- Create value stream maps of supplier and production facility processes to identify waste in the supply chain and act to eliminate it.
- Support Procurement with supplier qualification and product validation processes.
- Assist Procurement with supplier screening, capability analysis, and sourcing activities.
- Work with suppliers to achieve continuous improvement and development of increased capabilities and capacities that will benefit GT.
- Work with engineering to identify and improve product performance, and quality issues.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, Engineering discipline (Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, ect.) preferred.
- ASQ Certification or equivalent (ie CQI/IRCA/EOQ Certification) a plus.
- Six Sigma Black/ Green Belt certification a plus.
- PMP or equivalent certification or experience.
Skills and Experience:
- Candidate will have 10+ years of related Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing and inspection processes (i.e. injection molding, extrusion, compression molding, compounding, CNC machining, plating, welding, CMM, Keyence and other visual inspection systems, etc.).
- Strategic thinker with the ability to see big picture, and independently analyze/make recommendations.
- Global sourcing and manufacturing experience in low-cost countries.
- Ability to work in teams, motivate, and influence others without direct management responsibility.
- Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies.
- Ability to read drawings along with an understanding of GD&T principles.
- Strong analytical and statistical skills.
- Demonstrated skill and experience in problem solving environment (root cause analysis).
- Good personal relationship and communication skills (written and verbal). Will be interacting cross-functionally within a global matrix structure: R&D, Engineering, Procurement, Quality, Manufacturing, Sales, etc.
- Proactive and imaginative when faced with new challenges.
- Good organizational skills. Able to manage multiple projects and use project management techniques and tools.
- Knowledge of or the ability to quickly learn ERP system such as SAP.
- Capable of creating and managing a work schedule that effectively and efficiently accomplishes objectives with minimal oversite and regular check-ins.
- Bilingual fluency in German, French, Japanese, or Mandarin a plus.
