The Prince is a much-loved local pub at the heart of the Crowthorne community, known for friendly service, honest pricing and a welcoming atmosphere. We’re looking for a versatile Assistant Manager who enjoys all sides of pub life. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience across both Front and Back of House, who is happy to lead the team on the floor while spending around two days a week working in the kitchen.

As Assistant Manager, you’ll work closely with the General Manager to help run the pub, support the team and deliver a great experience for our guests.

  • Lead across Front and Back of House: Support the smooth running of both the bar and kitchen, stepping in where needed.
  • Get hands-on in the kitchen: Spend around two days a week supporting food preparation and service, maintaining quality and kitchen standards.
  • Inspire the team: Motivate, coach and support team members, helping everyone deliver their best.
  • Deliver great hospitality: Create a warm welcome and ensure every guest enjoys their visit.
  • Support daily operations: Help manage rotas, stock, service standards, cleanliness and compliance.
  • Drive business performance: Work with the General Manager to manage costs, maximise sales and make the most of opportunities.
  • Build community connections: Help make The Prince a pub our locals are proud of and love coming back to.

We’re looking for someone who is confident, adaptable and passionate about hospitality. Ideally, you’ll have experience in a pub, restaurant or similar environment, with knowledge of both front-of-house service and kitchen operations.

  • Experience supervising or managing a hospitality team.
  • Confidence working across both the bar and kitchen.
  • A hands-on approach and willingness to spend time in the kitchen.
  • Strong communication, organisation and people skills.
  • A passion for great food and guest service.
  • The ability to lead by example and stay calm during busy services.
  • A positive attitude and a genuine interest in developing your team.

This is a part-time, pro-rata position, working approximately 30–35 hours per week. The salary will be adjusted according to the agreed hours, so the final amount will depend on your contracted weekly hours.

As this role may involve covering the business in the General Manager's absence, you'll need to be eligible to hold a Personal Licence. You don't need to have one when you apply. If you're successful, Greene King will support you through the process of obtaining your licence.

At Greene King, we want you to feel valued and supported while developing your career.

  • Career development: Access to training, apprenticeships and opportunities to progress across Greene King.
  • Pub discounts: 33% off at Greene King pubs for you, plus 15% for friends and family.
  • Greene King Inns savings: 50% off for you and 25% off for friends and family.
  • Financial wellbeing: Access to Wagestream to help you manage your pay.
  • Extra perks: Retail discounts, family-friendly benefits and an Employee Assistance Programme.
  • Recommend a friend: Earn up to £1,500 when you introduce someone to Greene King.

We aim to embed inclusion into every decision we make – across our people, customers, communities, suppliers, and operations. We want to create a culture where everyone feels welcome, valued, and able to thrive.
