Job Description
To act as the Finance Centre of Excellence subject matter expert for technical accounting matters across VAT, Fixed Assets, IFRS16 and Treasury.
The role provides specialist technical accounting support across the FCo E, reducing dependency on Corporate and Group Finance whilst ensuring accounting compliance, governance and best practice.
Qualifications
Your role as Technical Accountant
Technical accounting lead across VAT, Treasury, Fixed Assets, IFRS16 and other specialist accounting areas.
Assessment and implementation of accounting standard changes.
Support for statutory reporting, audits and compliance requirements.
Review of complex accounting transactions and balance sheet integrity.
Support finance transformation, system implementations and process improvements.
- Provide subject matter expertise for all technical accounting matters within the FCo E.
- Ensure compliance with IFRS, VAT legislation and company accounting policies.
- Deliver robust technical accounting guidance for complex transactions.
- Support accurate and timely period-end, quarter-end and year-end reporting.
- Maintain strong balance sheet integrity through review and challenge of accounting treatments.
- Successfully support internal and external audit requirements.
- Implement accounting standard changes effectively and within required timelines.
- Increase technical capability across the R2R CBS and Fixed Asset teams through coaching and knowledge sharing.
- Drive continuous improvement in controls, processes and financial reporting quality.
- Support successful delivery of finance transformation and system implementation projects.
- Improve governance and reduce reliance on Corporate and Group Finance for technical accounting matters.
- Maintain high levels of stakeholder satisfaction through effective support and communication.
- What you’ll bring…

- Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS and UK GAAP).
- Significant VAT experience, including VAT return preparation.
- IFRS16 accounting knowledge.

- Advanced Excel and ERP systems knowledge.
- Experience working across multiple legal entities.
- Big 4 audit background desirable.
