Why Greencore? Following the combination with Bakkavor in January 2026, we're one of the UK's leading creators of convenience food, driven by a simple purpose: to make every day taste better. As a vibrant and fast-moving business, we're proud to employ over 28,000 talented colleagues across 36 manufacturing sites and 21 distribution depots across the UK and the US. Together, we create high-quality food enjoyed by millions of consumers every day. Here at Wisbech, our team of over 525 colleagues manufacture premium chilled ready-to-cook meals for major retailers including Sainsbury's, Aldi and Co-op.

What you'll be doing: As a Production Cook, you'll play a key role in preparing and cooking sauces and other ingredients to the highest standards, ensuring every batch meets our quality, food safety and customer specifications. Working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you'll be responsible for accurately following recipes, operating industrial cooking equipment safely, and ensuring ingredients are prepared and cooked correctly to support production. Please note: This role operates on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, working 3:00am-3:00pm. Due to production requirements, you'll need to be comfortable with the early start, as ingredients must be prepared and ready before the production lines begin.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing ingredients in line with production plans and recipes.
  • Weighing and measuring ingredients accurately to ensure product consistency.
  • Operating industrial cooking equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitoring cooking times, temperatures and product quality throughout the process.
  • Completing quality and food safety checks during production.
  • Recording production information accurately and completing all required paperwork.
  • Following all Health & Safety, Food Safety, HACCP and GMP procedures.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the cooking area.
  • Working closely with the production team to ensure ingredients are supplied on time.
  • Reporting any equipment faults, product issues or safety concerns to your Team Leader.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and maintaining high production standards.

What we're looking for: We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a positive attitude and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and can accurately follow recipes and processes.
  • Is confident working with machinery and production equipment.
  • Can work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Has good numerical skills and is comfortable completing production paperwork.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to food safety, quality and health & safety standards.
  • Is reliable, organised and able to commit to the 3:00am start time.
  • Previous experience within food manufacturing, food preparation, cooking or production is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.

What you'll get in return:

  • Competitive salary and job-related benefits
  • Staff shop discounts
  • Holidays
  • Competitive matched pension contributions
  • Life insurance up to 4x salary
  • Company Share Save Scheme
  • Exclusive Greencore employee discount platform
  • Access to a full Wellbeing Centre platform
  • Free car parking
  • Enhanced parental leave and menopause policies
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities to support your career progression
