The site employs over 550 people and is one of three factories that are part of the Bakkavor Desserts sector in the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing In this role, you will lead and manage a team of Hygiene Operatives, ensuring effective cleaning processes and that all hygiene documentation is accurately completed and audited daily. The primary focus is to maintain high hygiene standards and ensure the factory is handed back to operations on time, without compromising food safety.

  • Health & Safety: Proactively manage to ensure a safe working environment exists for all employees and that the operation meets the Group Health & Safety policy.
  • Hygiene Standards: Lead and drive hygiene standards through regular monitoring and auditing of strip down and cleaning activities.
  • Performance Management: Manage team performance via Bakkavor performance management systems, including appraisal and, if necessary, disciplinary action.
  • Training & Development: Own training for all team levels, coach and develop team members to required competence.
  • Performance Improvement: Use KPIs to drive performance, implement PIPs and identify improvement areas.
  • Resource Management: Plan and measure labour and material requirements to meet targets.
  • Communication: Manage communication within the area, ensuring workforce is informed and cross‑functional links are effective.
  • Recruitment: Participate in selection of direct reports and staff, ensuring skills requirements are met.
  • Employee Relations: Support a positive culture and good employee relations, facilitating a SEF representation structure.

  • Logical analysis and structured information management to aid decision‑making.
  • Ability to identify suitable solutions and evaluate success.
  • Support and implement change programmes to meet cost, quality and time targets.
  • Persuasive, convincing and influential communication skills.
