- What you’ll be doing
- As a key member of the site leadership team, provide strategic leadership for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) by developing site management systems, improvement strategies, governance, and performance metrics.
Act as the site's technical expert, applying detailed knowledge of HSE legislation to ensure legal compliance, continuous improvement, and effective implementation of policies, procedures, and SHE pillar requirements through practical, risk-based action plans integrated into site operations.
Provide expert guidance, coaching, and support to leaders and teams, ensuring HSE processes are understood, embedded, and owned at all levels.
- Lead the development and delivery of the site's HSE strategy, roadmap, governance, reporting, data, and KPIs to improve proactive and reactive performance and strengthen risk management.
Design and implement initiatives that enhance HSE culture, behaviors, and brand through stakeholder engagement.
Drive compliance with new and changing legislation by implementing appropriate controls and providing technical guidance across health, safety, environmental, occupational health, and security disciplines.
- Establish systems for effective incident reporting and investigation, determining the appropriate level of investigation using recognised failure analysis tools, and manage incident recording systems.
Develop HSE capability through coaching, training, and leadership of cross-functional committees to maximise team performance and expertise.
- Manage relationships with regulators, customers, auditors, and community stakeholders, ensuring legal reporting requirements are met and leading enforcement visits, external audits, and customer inspections.
Provide HSE leadership for capital projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards covering insurance, fire, security, machinery, chemical, biological, and other risks.
Lead site audit programs, including critical risk, maturity, and management system audits, driving compliance and continuous improvement.
Assess security needs, manage site security teams, and ensure compliance with legal and customer security requirements.

- Ideally educated to degree level or holds a relevant professional qualification in Health and Safety management
- Experienced in Health and Safety management ideally gained in a manufacturing environment
- Practitioner member of IEMA (PIEMA) or working towards with environmental qualifications
- Demonstrable experience of continual technical development including current Health and Safety legislation
- Additional knowledge of occupation health and security management is desirable
- Demonstrates good soft skills, working with others to build momentum and passion on a goal
- Demonstrates good influencing skills and has experience motivating stakeholders all levels
- Ability to be an effective and key member of the site leadership team
