What you'll be doing:
- We're looking for a high-calibre Senior Depot Manager to lead performance across multiple depots, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-efficient operations that consistently deliver against service, people, and financial targets.
- Operating as a senior leader within the network, you'll provide oversight, coaching, and constructive challenge to site teams, driving consistency, building capability, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
- This role offers a clear pathway into an Area Depot Manager position, with increasing scope and multi-site accountability.
- You'll take full ownership of operational performance across your depots, ensuring targets for service, cost, safety, and quality are met.
- A key part of your role will be leading, coaching, and developing teams, building strong leadership capability and ensuring long-term succession readiness.
- You'll champion the highest standards of health, safety, and compliance, embedding a proactive safety culture while taking ownership of risk management, incident review, and corrective action.
- Alongside this, you'll oversee labour planning and resource deployment, ensuring cost-effective staffing models and compliance with labour standards.
- Driving operational consistency will be central to your success. You'll identify and deliver improvements in productivity, efficiency, and ways of working, while maintaining high standards across fleet utilisation, facilities, and asset management.
- You'll also lead the successful implementation of operational change, including capital projects and new equipment, ensuring initiatives are delivered safely, on time, and fully embedded into daily operations.
- Through clear reporting and insight, you'll keep senior leadership informed of performance trends, risks, and opportunities.
- As a senior leader, you'll actively champion inclusion and diversity, acting as a role model and ensuring commitments are translated into meaningful action across your teams.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a Depot Manager or in a similar operational leadership role.
- Strong understanding of transport and warehousing best practices.
- Qualified Transport Manager CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) holder.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through others across multiple sites.
- Experience managing labour, budgets, and overall operational performance.
- Excellent operational, commercial, and safety awareness.
- Confident decision-maker with the resilience to manage competing priorities.
- Clear capability and aspiration to progress into an Area Depot Manager role.
