We're a leading manufacturer of convenience food in the UK and our purpose is to make everyday taste better. We're a vibrant, fast-paced leading food manufacturer, employing around 13,600 colleagues across 16 manufacturing units and 17 distribution depots across the UK. We supply all the UK's food retailers with everything from sandwiches, soups and sushi to cooking sauces, pickles and ready meals. Our vast direct-to-store (DTS) distribution network enables us to make over 10,400 daily deliveries of our own chilled and frozen produce and that of third parties.

Here at Northampton, we operate one of the most impressive facilities in Europe, based across a campus of 5 manufacturing units, and we have a team of around 2,000 colleagues making high quality premium products every day. We are the sole supplier of sandwiches, wraps, rolls and sushi for Marks & Spencer.

Contract length - 6 months FTC

What You'll Be Doing

  • Set up approval for external specifications and relevant technical information in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Review copy artwork, in line with updated customer technical and labelling policies, and include all regulatory changes that will impact on the accuracy of the pack information and labelling.
  • Document procedures to ensure that internal and customer compliance is met, and the relevant process development practices are adopted.
  • Reviewing raw material specification content to develop 'gold standard' specifications for each raw material to improve compliance.
  • Validation of specifications and processes to identify synergies and scope for consolidation through a continuous improvement process.
  • Operate in compliance with Health Safety and Environment policy to ensure that the working environment remains safe for all colleagues.

What we're looking for

  • Ideally educated to HND level or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Holds a level 2 food hygiene and a level 2 health and safety certification.
  • Experience working with computers and experienced in using web-based customer specification systems.
  • Knowledge and experience of writing specifications for retailers in food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of legal labelling legislation and application.
  • Knowledge and experience of a variety of retailer own web-based systems.
