Salary: £20,670 - Increasing to £22,000 in Year 2 & £23,690 in Year 3.

Location: Spalding, Harrow & Crewe (Cheshire)

Ways of Working: Site-based

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm. Total hours per week: 37.5

Contract Type: FTC with a guaranteed role on successful completion of the apprenticeship

Start Date: Tuesday 1st September 2026

Assessment Dates: April 2026

What you’ll be doing:

  • Expected Duration: 3 Years
  • Apprenticeship Level: Advanced Safety, Health and Environment Technician (Level 3) and then progressing to Improvement Practitioner (Level 4)
  • Training Provider: DEERE APPRENTICESHIPS LTD

Initially, you will work towards a Level 3 Safety, Health & Environment Technician standard. Once complete you will progress to the Level 4 Improvement Practitioner standard. Upon completion of the apprenticeship programme you will be able to join the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) at Technical IOSH level. At the end of your programme, if you have successfully completed your apprenticeship and achieved the performance targets we have set for you, you are guaranteed a permanent role with us.

Typical weekly tasks will consist of:

  • Investigating incidents and accidents and near misses and using robust root cause techniques.
  • Learning about Safety, Health and Environmental management and best practices and being able to suggest tangible control measures.
  • Developing an understanding of compliance to UK safety laws, providing governance and support to sustain legal compliance.
  • Growing to understand how you can influence a positive safety culture, completing training and coaching of teams to help grow safer actions and habits.
  • Undertaking and/or assisting with the monitoring, analysis and reporting of SHE performance.
  • Supporting the embedding of Health, Safety & Environmental values and procedures where good communication skills are essential.

This is a mobile role so a full driving licence and access to a car with appropriate business insurance is essential. You will have a home site to work from but will cover a number of sites across the region.

  • Patience, initiative, and a proactive attitude are also important.

With regards to requirements, you must have full right to work within the U.K., have been a U.K. resident for over the past 3 years & the age requirement is 16+ (This needs to be 18+ at our Cheshire site).

For qualifications you must hold the following: GCSE or equivalent English and Maths + three others (Grade 9 - 4 or A*- C) essential.
