Hours of work: Standard hours are 8.30 am - 5.00 pm. Dependent on role and site, you may be based in a factory setting for a large proportion of your day and may in future be required to move onto a relevant shift pattern.

What you'll be doing:
- Expected Duration: 2.5 Years
- Apprenticeship Level: Advanced Level 3 - Food Technologist
- Training Provider: UNIVERSITY OF LINCOLN
You will complete a Level 3 Food Technologist standard. You will also take part in a soft skills development programme. At the end of your programme, if you have successfully completed your apprenticeship and achieved the performance targets we have set for you, you are guaranteed a permanent role with us. Future career aspirations could include Senior Process Technologist, Quality Manager and Technical Manager to name a few.
What to expect:
A career in Food Technical with us means feeling a sense of pride in knowing that you have ensured the food on consumers' plates is safe to eat. You will be given the chance to work alongside many different departments to see how a kitchen concept is made real and manage the process through to see a product hit the retailer shelves. You will learn about areas such as process design and food science in the context of food safety legislation and quality standards. This technical role focuses on the key business areas of food safety and product quality and will involve working alongside other departments to ensure that all manufacturing is done correctly, safely and to a high standard of quality.
By the end of your programme, you will be able to utilise your food science knowledge to ensure the smooth transition of food products from factory to fork ensuring that technical and quality standards are achieved whilst maximising profitability to meet customer requirements.
What we're looking for:
We are looking for individuals with strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. You should have excellent attention to detail, a logical mindset, and be comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team. Patience, initiative, and a proactive attitude are essential.
With regards to requirements, you must have full right to work within the U.K., have been a U.K. resident for over the past 3 years & the age requirement is 18+ (Especially for our Crewe & Aston sites). For qualifications, you must hold the following: GCSE or equivalent English and maths + three others (Grade 9-4 or A*-C) essential.

What's next?
Applications are due to close on Monday 9th March 2026, however if there are high volumes of applications, we may close early. Upon successful application review, you will be invited to face-to-face assessment which will take place at one of our Bakkavor sites, April 2026. Induction and enrolment for this role and the apprenticeship will take place in August and September 2026.
