We are looking for a Grid Connection Engineer to support the construction and delivery of utility-scale solar PV projects across the UK. Unlike development-focused roles, this position is dedicated to ensuring that grid connection requirements are successfully implemented during construction and that all works meet DNO specifications, grid codes, and project quality standards.
You will act as the technical interface between our construction team, ICPs, DNOs, and commissioning engineers to ensure the project is grid-ready and energised safely and on time.

Your profile:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Experience working on the construction of utility-scale solar PV, HV substations, or large electrical infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of DNO/ICP processes and construction requirements for grid connections in the UK.
- Familiarity with G99/G100, protection coordination, HV/LV installation standards, and grid compliance documentation.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, SLDs, installation specs, and test reports.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with contractors, DNOs, and engineering teams.
- Comfortable working on active construction sites across the UK.
Desirable:
- Experience with solar PV, inverters, and HV substations.
- Knowledge of G99 commissioning and grid compliance testing.
- HV authorisation (DNO or private network).
- Experience working with plant controllers (PPC), reactive power systems, or hybrid PV+BESS connections.
Your mission:
- Coordinate with the DNO/ICP during all construction-related stages of the grid connection process.
- Review and validate detailed designs, drawings, SLDs, and protection schemes delivered by ICPs or subcontractors.
- Ensure that all grid connection requirements (G99, G100, protection settings, metering schemes) are fully incorporated into construction works.
- Provide technical oversight on HV/MV installations, including substations, switchgear, cables, and transformers.
- Monitor construction progress against grid connection milestones and ensure readiness for inspections and energisation.
- Review method statements, RAMS, and commissioning plans related to grid works.
- Attend DNO/ICP meetings, site inspections, and witness tests as required.
- Validate as-built documentation and ensure alignment with the approved connection design.
- Support the commissioning team during grid compliance testing and energisation activities.
- Ensure all works comply with UK electrical standards, DNO policies, and project specifications.
