We are now seeking a committed and proactive Mental Health Team Leader to join our growing team in Sheffield, working within a supported accommodation that provides 24/7 care to individuals with complex mental health needs. This is a pivotal role that requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a passion for maintaining high standards across both care and compliance.
Role Overview
As Team Leader, you will supervise and support a team of Mental Health Recovery Workers to ensure high-quality service delivery for complex service users living in our 24 hour supported housing provision. You will play a key role in driving excellent standards of care and ensuring that all staff maintain accurate, up-to-date records so that nothing is missed and service users receive consistent, responsive support in line with CQC standards. Please note this is not a care worker role and does not involve intimate/personal care. A full UK driving licence and access to a car is essential. Relevant social care experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Oversight
- Provide weekly supervision and daily oversight of Mental Health Recovery Workers.
- Ensure care delivery meets internal standards, CQC expectations, and best practices.
- Work closely with the Registered Service Manager to uphold the organisation’s aims and objectives.
- Lead by example, setting clear expectations for professionalism, accuracy, and reliability.
- Ensure all staff are upholding excellent standards of care and that all documentation and support notes are consistently up to date.
- Support staff in managing complex cases, safeguarding concerns, and behavioural incidents.
- Deliver on-the-job coaching and mentoring, ensuring all new staff are adequately inducted and shadowed.
- Cover staff absences as needed to ensure 24/7 continuity of care.
- Oversee the completion and regular review of support plans and risk assessments.
- Ensure all support provided is fully documented in accordance with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Monitor quality of notes, identifying and addressing any gaps in record-keeping.
- Write pen portraits with service users to shape personalised support.
- Act as Office Duty on a rota basis, responding to enquiries and managing daily operations.
- Provide responsive and practical support to service users.
- Ensure smooth communication across the staff team and with management.
- Liaise with external professionals and attend multi-agency meetings on behalf of the service.
- Make timely referrals and act as a key contact for external stakeholders.
