The Role
We are seeking a driven part‑qualified Accountant to step into a newly created role within our dynamic finance team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their career in a global law firm environment. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this position will act as her deputy and play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day management of the team. The successful candidate will contribute to delivering high‑quality financial services to a range of stakeholders and will be encouraged to take ownership of key processes and projects. This role is ideal for someone with a solid grounding in accounting principles and a strong ambition to continue progressing professionally within a collaborative and high‑performing team.
Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
- Prepare monthly Management Information for Shareholder meetings, working with the Business Director to investigate any queries.
- Take ownership of financial data analysis, identifying trends, variances, and actionable insights to assist in decision‑making, preparing ad‑hoc Management Information for clients.
- Support the Finance Manager in the development and tracking of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Support the Business Director and Finance Manager in partnering with department heads to interpret financial performance and deliver meaningful financial advice and support.
- Act as a point of contact for internal stakeholders regarding management accounting queries, providing clear explanations and advice.
- Assist the Finance Manager in preparing year‑end statutory accounts in compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Prepare supporting schedules for statutory audit, ensuring all information is complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Assist the Finance Manager with the Statutory, SRA and Internal audits.
- Assist in ensuring the timely submission of VAT returns, corporation tax returns, and other regulatory filings, including ONS submissions.
- Take a leading role in WIP and AR (investment) reviews and Revenue Management, supporting the London office through its Collection Drives at mid‑year and at year‑end, providing guidance to billing team as needed.
- Assist the Accounts team with ad‑hoc data requests and investigative work.
- Continuously review and improve internal financial processes, striving to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness in reporting.
Skills and personal attributes
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
- Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills and the ability to collate and present management information data (pivot tables, extracting information to Excel etc).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with all stakeholders across the business.
- Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritise and manage workload in response to changes in business needs.
- Ability to demonstrate initiative and independence.
Qualifications and experience
- Part‑qualified Accounting qualification – CIMA, ACCA or similar.
- Experience in a Professional Services environment is preferred, however experience on other highly regulated environments such as Banking and Insurance will be considered.
