Greenacre School is one of the UK’s largest special schools, educating over 300 children and young people aged 3 to 19 with severe and complex learning disabilities. As a Grade 1 Teaching Assistant (TA1) at our school in Barnsley, you will offer more than classroom support. You will make connections, develop relationships and lead our pupils on the path to a bright future. This will include working under the guidance of a teacher to support the academic and personal development of children throughout the school day. This includes:

  • Getting the classroom ready for lessons
  • Supporting children in and out of class with reading, visual learning, outdoor play and swimming
  • Helping those who need extra support
  • Completing pupils record plans
  • Personal care

Interest in working in a special education school

An understanding or experience of working with children/young people with SEN/SEND needs

Be willing to undertake Math's & English qualifications within a specific timeframe

Salary for a Grade 1 Teaching Assistant is £18,895 actual annual salary working 33 hours per week Mon-Fri term time only + 5 inset days + amazing benefits working for our Wellspring trust. This is a full time role working Mon-Fri TERM TIME only 8.50am-3.45pm (every Wednesday till 4.45pm).
