The Role: As the Development Manager, you will oversee the full development lifecycle from acquisition through to completion and end of defects. You will be responsible for managing multiple housing schemes, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget and to the required standards. Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders including landowners, consultants, contractors and internal teams, you will play a key role in delivering new homes and supporting long‑term growth strategies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, assess and secure development opportunities including land acquisition, S106, regeneration and refurbishment schemes.
- Manage projects from inception through to completion and defects period.
- Prepare financial appraisals, risk assessments and business cases for approval.
- Manage project budgets, costs and consultant fees effectively.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including developers, local authorities and consultants.
- Ensure robust governance, compliance and accurate project documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams including housing, finance, assets and sales.
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies across projects.
- Drive continuous improvement in development processes and customer experience.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience managing residential development projects, ideally within affordable housing.
- Strong knowledge of development and planning processes.
- Understanding of construction methods, including modern methods of construction (MMC).
- Experience in financial modelling, viability assessments and risk management.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project reporting tools.
Qualifications Required:
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in a construction or property‑related discipline.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
