The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Fire Safety Manager to join a growing compliance and asset management function.

This is a key leadership role responsible for driving fire safety strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a proactive safety culture across the organisation.

You will lead a specialist team and oversee contractor performance to ensure properties remain safe, compliant, and fully aligned with current fire safety legislation and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage fire safety compliance programmes across the property portfolio.
  • Develop, implement and continuously improve fire safety strategies, policies, procedures and management plans.
  • Oversee Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), ensuring risks are identified, monitored and mitigated effectively.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, ensuring ongoing compliance with fire safety requirements.
  • Manage the installation, maintenance and testing of fire safety systems, including alarms, sprinklers and emergency lighting.
  • Lead contractor and supplier management, driving performance, quality and value for money.
  • Develop and deliver fire safety training, guidance and awareness programmes for colleagues and residents.
  • Lead fire incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Work collaboratively across departments to embed fire safety into operational activities and decision-making.
  • Provide expert advice, reporting and assurance to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Lead, coach and develop a fire safety team, creating a high-performing culture focused on safety, compliance and customer service.

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience in fire safety, property compliance, housing maintenance or a similar compliance-focused environment.
  • Strong understanding of fire safety legislation, regulations and risk management principles.
  • Proven experience managing contracts and contractor performance.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data to drive performance improvements.
  • Experience managing budgets and delivering value for money.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

Qualifications Required

  • Relevant qualification in construction, property services or a related discipline (Degree or Level 6 equivalent preferred).
  • Project Management or Management qualification (desirable).
  • NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification (desirable).
