We are recruiting for an experienced professional to lead the work on the Regulator of Social Housing’s Consumer Standards and drive meaningful service improvement across Housing Services. This is a key role focused on strengthening policies, processes and controls, improving consistency across teams, and ensuring the organisation delivers high-quality, resident-focused services. You’ll take ownership of the Consumer Standards action plan and work closely with teams to drive meaningful, sustainable improvement. There is no line management, but you will lead the work, influence stakeholders at all levels, and support services to embed new ways of working into BAU.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Consumer Standards action plan, ensuring progress and accountability across all housing service areas.
- Work collaboratively with Housing Management, Repairs, Compliance, Resident Engagement and other teams to address gaps and strengthen weaker areas.
- Ensure policies, processes and service offers reflect the Consumer Standards and are consistently applied.
- Support teams to understand risk, particularly around safety, quality and housing management compliance.
- Develop and maintain a clear evidence base demonstrating how standards are being met.
- Provide constructive challenge and guidance to internal and external stakeholders, including navigating resistance where needed.
- Support the development of robust controls, governance and reporting mechanisms.
About You
- Strong understanding of Consumer Standards, social housing regulation and housing management.
- Experience in service improvement, compliance, governance, or risk within a housing context.
- Knowledge of policies and processes across repairs, housing management and compliance.
- Ability to work across departments and influence at all levels, including in environments where priorities may differ.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management and documentation skills.
- A proactive, organised and resilient approach, with the ability to keep momentum across multiple workstreams.
- Comfortable leading without line management responsibility.
