We are actively looking to engage shipping, freight and road transport professionals with a passion for freight forwarding for a new role in Nottingham on a hybrid basis!
My client is a SME freight forwarding business, with huge ambitions for growth, in the freight & shipping industry. You will be joining a fast-paced environment assisting in finding logistics solutions for some of the world's largest industrial, retail & FMCG based customers. My client focuses on searching air freight, sea freight & road freight solutions, which are both cost effective & time sensitive.
As a Freight Forwarding Supervisor you will report to the Freight Operations Manager on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas across the Nottingham office:
- Managing a small team of 5 specialist freight forwarders across road, air & sea freight
- Overseeing the team responsible for preparing road, air and sea freight pricing & customer quotations - informing about the freight prices, port charges, cost of special documents, insurance prices as well as prices for handling the goods.
- Organising transport through third party transit means - such as air freight, sea freight and dedicated road freight transport.
- Providing appropriate transportation means with adequate load capacity and regulations around IMDG, IATA.
- Handling customs entries and arranging billings for VAT/Duties
- Ensuring, booking and conducting customs clearance.
The successful candidate will have an expansive background in either road, air or sea freight forwarding industry. The ideal Freight Forwarding Supervisor will have the following skills and experience:
- 3+ years experience in freight forwarding in any mode of freight (ideally focused on road freight)
- Experience leading or managing teams within a freight forwarding or shipping environment.
- Experience of pricing, quotation and planning customer deliveries across road, air & sea freight.
- Desirable experience of customs compliance
- Excellent customer service experience
- Knowledge of INCOTerms is advantageous
- Commutable to Nottingham on a hybrid basis
