The predicted salary is between 29970 - 36483 £ per year.
Working under the direct supervision of the HCA and Nurse teams and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the post-holder will be responsible for performing venepuncture and near patient testing to obtain blood samples from patients as directed by other members of the clinical team. This role will be a working day over 5 days. You will work across all 3 of our sites, Leap Valley, Downend, Emersons Green Medical Centre and Abbotswood in Yate.
Main duties of the job
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their consent to the collection of a blood sample.
- Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures.
- Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers.
- Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity using clinical systems.
- Checking patient identification against clinician request and confirming with patient whenever possible.
- Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure.
- Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion.
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff.
- Notifying the appropriate clinician of any significant patient issues.
- Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.
- Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions.
- Assist in raising awareness of health and well-being, where appropriate.
- Give accurate and appropriate information to patients and groups within own competence.
- To gain the underpinning knowledge and practical skills to administer basic life support if necessary.
- Chaperone and assist patients where appropriate according to practice policy.
- Support the HCA and Nurse team for various tasks if and when required.

Qualifications
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths.
- Qualified to NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
