We are seeking a talented and experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to lead and deliver cutting-edge projects as part of our innovative team. This role is integral to the design and development of advanced mechanical systems, taking ownership of projects from concept to production. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of experts, guiding and mentoring others while ensuring the successful delivery of complex, high-profile projects.
Qualifications and Skills Required

- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Marine, or Aerospace Engineering.
- CAD Expertise: Extensive experience with major CAD tools (preferably Siemens NX), with a strong grasp of GD&T and DFM principles.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles supported by design calculations.
- Proven experience designing with both metallic and composite materials.
- In-depth knowledge of materials, welding, bonding, and fastening techniques.
- Software Proficiency: Familiarity with FEA tools, TeamCentre, and Siemens SimCentre.
- Hands-On Skills: Experience in workshop environments, including fabrication and CNC machining.
- Project Management Expertise: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage resources, schedules, and deliverables.
- Industry Experience: Background in production manufacturing techniques and their application to engineering design.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Take ownership of the mechanical design process, ensuring solutions meet functional, quality, cost, and timing objectives.
- Provide technical direction on a variety of projects, including large-scale structures for series production and unique, one-off prototypes.
- Conduct in-depth design calculations, hand calculations for mechanical fixings, and validations to ensure engineering integrity.
- Develop and implement best practices, contributing to process improvements and maintaining the organization’s reputation for innovation.
- Lead and deliver projects, managing schedules, milestones, and resources to achieve goals on time and within budget.
- Balance multiple concurrent projects, prioritize tasks, and address risks and issues effectively.
- Support project management activities, including progress monitoring and reporting.
- Oversee technical documentation, including DFMEA and compliance with company standards.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
- Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring team members are empowered to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Act as a technical liaison for customers, suppliers, manufacturers, and internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and communication across all parties.
- Contribute to pre-contract activities, concept generation, and early-stage feasibility studies.
- Support the preparation of customer proposals and other business development initiatives.
- Engage in technical reviews and customer presentations, representing the organization with authority and expertise.
