About This Role
To provide high-quality political, strategic and operational support to the Leader(s), ensuring they are able to carry out their political leadership responsibilities effectively and strategically. The post holder will act as a trusted adviser and key point of coordination within the Leader’s office, combining political judgement and advice with oversight of the Leader’s diary, priorities, relationships and day-to-day operations.
You will anticipate and identify the Leader’s needs, providing forward planning, advice and practical support, and will exercise a high degree of political judgement and discretion — advising on priorities, opportunities, risks, relationships and approaches, and making recommendations where appropriate. You will manage the Leader’s complex and often competing commitments, acting as a key gatekeeper and first point of contact for those seeking to engage with them.
The role involves managing a broad range of complex, sensitive and politically significant issues, working closely with staff, elected representatives, members, external stakeholders, partners, organisations and the media, operating with a high degree of confidentiality, initiative and autonomy.
