About This Role

Now is one of the most exciting moments in the history of the Green Party. With record-breaking membership growth, rising public support with record polling growth, and on the back of record-breaking local elections and our historic win in Gorton and Denton, our media team is expanding to meet the scale of this moment. We’re looking for a driven, politically savvy Press Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is ready to work flexibly as part of a small, dynamic team shaping the national conversation.

As Press Officer, you will be at the heart of our communications operation: crafting punchy lines, responding rapidly to breaking news, building relationships with journalists, producing briefings for high-profile Greens, and helping to tell the story of a party that is changing politics.

A knowledge of social media is an advantage, but note this is to work in the press team, not the social media team. If you have sharp political instincts, excellent writing skills, and a passion for climate and social justice and democracy, we’d love to hear from you.

Rapid Response

Monitor breaking news, including evenings and weekends, and provide swift written responses.

Journalist Relations

Build strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers and influencers across all media.

Provide comprehensive briefings to high-profile Greens and physically attend interviews in support.

Proactive Comms

Pitch stories and commentary to national and regional outlets and shape strategic media plans.

The role is flexible, ideally London based working from our Lambeth office with some home working. It reports to the Press Manager, with key relationships across the Media Manager and elected Greens. On working pattern: media never sleeps, and neither does politics, so we need staff able to work flexibly through the week at all hours. This will be weighted towards Monday to Friday but will involve some weekend and evening work.
