About This Role
It is an incredibly exciting time for the Green Party, with expansion happening right across the staff team. The Communications Advisor to the Deputy Leaders is a brand-new role at the heart of that growth, and is mission critical to making sure we harness the momentum of the current moment and ultimately achieve the next level of electoral success.
This role will be fast paced and requires someone with significant political experience. No two days will be the same, and the post holder will need to spend a good deal of time out on the road with the Deputy Leaders.
The Communications Advisor will sit within the Press team, while liaising closely with the leadership team as a whole. You will provide strategic, proactive and reactive communications support to the deputy leaders of the Party, and be responsible for helping shape their public narrative, closely tied to the objectives of the wider party. The role requires excellent political judgement, top class writing skills, and the ability to operate effectively in an ever-changing and sensitive political environment.
Strategic Communications
Develop a comms strategy aligned with the deputy leaders’ priorities, drafting speeches, op-eds and briefings.
Media Relations
Act as primary contact for journalists, coordinate interviews, and support crisis aversion and management.
Digital Communications
Advise on the deputy leaders’ digital presence, feed into video content and monitor engagement analytics.
Rapid Response
Track political developments, draft rapid-response statements and advise during heightened public attention.
The role is flexible, ideally London-based working from our Lambeth office with the option of some home working. It reports to the Head of Communications, with key relationships across the Leaders’ Office, the Communications Team and parliamentary colleagues. As part of the press team, you will also from time to time support other high-profile Greens and take part in the national press team out-of-hours rota.
