The Diocese of Salisbury is a presence in every community from North Wessex to the Jurassic Coast serving a million people. Across the diocese, our 500 local churches are sustained by a remarkable group of people who volunteer their time in church roles and in their wider community. They are supported by over 200 clergy and ministers (both paid and voluntary) together with an employed staff team who support the diocese.

To support our team, our volunteers and our clergy and enable them to do their best work, we are creating the new role of People Director who will be centre stage in achieving a change in culture and ways of working, supporting those in leadership to inspire and coach others. This new role will work with leaders across the diocese and especially with the Bishops and Archdeacons in their leadership of clergy and lay ministers. This is an innovative and pioneering role which will call for emotional intelligence, creativity, collaborative instincts and sensitivity to the wide range of different people the Diocese works with. It offers the opportunity to set the tone for this new function and work with a wonderful team of people.

We are keen to speak to people with significant experience of leadership and setting strategy who have the professional skills to lead the People function in a complex and diverse organisation and above all who care about the work of the Diocese in its community and our mission and purpose.
