Lloyds Bank Foundation is one of the UK’s leading independent charitable foundations, backing community-led organisations that change lives. Since 1985, we have invested over £1bn in real terms across England and Wales—through more than 45,000 grants to local organisations, amplifying their voice and strengthening the power of people and places. As we launch a bold new strategy in Spring 2026, following our 40th anniversary, we are entering an exciting new chapter. Our ambition is to ensure everyone in England and Wales is in a good place—personally, at home, and in their community.
With a strengthened relationship with Lloyds Banking Group, we are uniquely positioned to operate at greater scale, unlocking new opportunities for influence, partnership, and impact. We are now seeking an exceptional Chair to lead our Board of Trustees at this pivotal time. This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a nationally significant foundation, working at the intersection of business, government, and civil society to drive meaningful, system-level change.
As Chair, you will lead a diverse and engaged Board, ensuring strong governance, clear decision-making, and a culture of openness and constructive challenge. You will partner closely with the CEO to deliver an ambitious strategy, maintaining a clear focus on impact and accountability. Externally, you will represent the Foundation with credibility and influence, building relationships that extend our reach, unlock new income, and strengthen our role in the wider social and economic landscape.
We are looking for a Chair who combines sound judgement with ambition and curiosity. You will bring the credibility to operate at senior levels across sectors, alongside the emotional intelligence and humility to engage authentically with communities and senior stakeholders alike. You will be comfortable navigating complexity, balancing independence with partnership, and enabling bold thinking while maintaining discipline and focus.
This is a high-impact role requiring approximately three days per month. It offers the opportunity to contribute at scale, working alongside an ambitious CEO and leadership team at a moment when the Foundation is well-positioned to realise its full potential. If you are motivated to help shape the next phase of a leading national foundation and support communities across England and Wales to thrive, we want to hear from you!
